Kika in her studio in San Francisco.

Kika Knaup learned the traditional craft of tailoring at the German Mastercrafts School in Munich. During her studies she apprenticed at a bridal studio where she was affected by the special hand of fabric, the precise eye for detail, and the perfect fit of each custom made wedding gown.

In 2009 Kika moved to San Francisco where she finally followed her dream to create her own fashion label. The city, with its experimental fashion culture, opened a whole new world to Kika inspiring her to begin her fashion studies. After receiving a four year presidential scholarship, she began her studies at the Academy of Art University.

At the Academy of Art Kika developed a strong fascination for the unlimited possibilities of knitwear. Her passion to explore experimental knits with technical machine knitting, fully fashioning details and strong garment construction secured her a spot in the Graduation Fashion Show.
